Issue date
When the current certificate was issued. Modern certificates last 90 days to a year.
Free SEO tool
Enter a site address and see the dates on its SSL certificate. An expired certificate shows every visitor a security warning instead of your site, and Chrome blocks certificates from distrusted authorities outright.
Run the tool above and the result appears here.
What it checks
When the current certificate was issued. Modern certificates last 90 days to a year.
When it stops being valid. Put it in the calendar, or confirm auto-renewal is working.
Flags certificates from authorities Chrome no longer trusts, which are blocked rather than warned about.
Google has used HTTPS as a ranking signal since 2014 and marks plain HTTP pages as not secure.
How to read it
If your host issues certificates automatically (Let’s Encrypt and most managed WordPress hosts do), check that the renewal job is running; a certificate within 14 days of expiry on an auto-renewing host usually means the renewal is failing. If you bought the certificate, renew it with the vendor and install the new one before the date.
A valid certificate is not enough. If the page loads any image, script or font over plain HTTP, browsers downgrade the padlock or block the file. Our website maintenance plans include a monthly check for exactly this.

Chrome and Firefox stopped trusting certificates issued by Symantec’s old authorities. A site still using one is blocked, not just warned. Replace it with a certificate from any current authority.
No. With HTTP/2, which requires HTTPS, most sites load faster than they did over plain HTTP.
