Optimal Web Design
Web design basics are hard but interesting. To design a great website you have to think about all of the website design standards first. In this article, I will talk about what web designers have to know to develop a high-quality website.

Web Design Guidelines:

  • Fast loading website

It doesn’t make the user wait too long to load a page. Everyone’s patience has a limit. According to the latest research, this limit is a maximum of 10 seconds. Try to make an optimal web design that will load in under 5 seconds.

  • Avoids over-advertising

When ads on the website cover its content there is a problem. Users can’t stand everything that even looks like ads as they are already everywhere. If you need to place a banner on the website try to make it not intrusive.

  • User-friendly website

The website must first of all be comfortable to use, after that you can think about making it pretty. User experience and users interface are some of the most important parts of the modern websites.

  • Mobile friendly

The website has to look great on all the devices. In 2018 there are plenty of devices with all different screen sizes like iPhones, laptops, desktops, ipads and even watches. Responsive web design will allow web visitors to use the site equally comfortably on all screen resolutions.

  • Simple website design site navigation

Well-made navigation is task number one in user interface design. Navigation shouldn’t make the visitor think “Where am I going and how do I get there?”. You can create the biggest website but if navigation is bad it will be unsuccessful.

  • Good web search

Place the search box in a visible place so your customers can easily find what they want.

  • Links and buttons are visible

When visiting your website, a user has to understand right away where the content is static and where it is dynamic. Underline or add borders to the links and buttons, and highlight active elements. Add hover effects for links.

  • Internal links don’t open in a new tab

Target=”_blank” in my opinion should be used only for external links. For pages within your website, I don’t recommend it.

  • No custom scrolling

Now in many websites, you can see all kinds of animated effects when scrolling pages. Not everybody likes that. Personally, I prefer not to have too much extra so I don’t feel like custom scrolling animation options are necessary.

  • No autoplay for videos and sounds

Autoplay can be very annoying for users. Visitors want to decide what they want to listen to and see on their own. Usually, the background video without the volume is an exception.

  • No blinking content

Most of the users prefer a simple website. Nobody likes to get confused!

  • Readable fonts

Don’t use fonts that are hard to read or won’t display correctly on all devices. Fonts have to be simple and available for the general population. Also, you shouldn’t use many different fonts on a single website. Usually, 2-3 fonts are enough.

As you might have noticed, the author of this article is the designer for this website who loves minimalism and simplicity. If I could, I’d do it all in black and white 🙂
